HODGEPODGE WEDNESDAY NO. 3

Can you believe a week from tomorrow will be Thanksgiving? I swear it seems like last week we were just trick-or-treating.  November has flown by and I can only assume December will too. My daughter has already written her letter to Santa, mind you it consists mainly of vowels - she's 4 and can't actually write a letter yet.

I think you need a little break from all the preparations you are undertaking in anticipation for Turkey Day.

Or if you're like me and haven't even started your planning yet, be sure to check out the printable's below to aid you!

ANOTHER EASY GIFT WRAP ORGANIZER

Can anyone relate to the picture below?  This is pretty much how my pile of supplies look.  But I am working on straightening out that fiasco.  If you saw my post Easy Gift Wrap Organizer, then you know my plan already.

Image Credit: Steve and Kelly Plus Two

So how would you like to turn the above into this:

Image Credit: Steve and Kelly Plus Two

Pretty nifty idea from Steve and Kelly Plus Two!  I really like this, it's very functional and out-of-the-way and totally organized.

All in all, using the above system with the 4 baskets, Kelly was able to store:
  • 15 rolls of paper (with room for more)
  • Curling Ribbons
  • Gift tags and stickers, gift boxes, wrapping tissue, and some more ribbon
  • Gift Bags (about 40)
I can't believe ALL that stuff fit.  What a great post, I love these types of before and after.  Makes me flit and flutter with organized contentment.

To get all the details, please head over to Steve and Kelly's blog post:

Part 2: ORGANIZING LISTS...NEED I SAY MORE?

So I decided to treat you all with more lists to help you take control over your chaotic life.  Thank goodness for the wonderful people who take the time to make these, and better yet share them with us.

And they're FREE!

I spend a little bit of dough on all those cutesy planners and paper.  But why should I, when half the time I don't use most of what's included. Here are some of benefits to consider when you print your own:
  • You save money, no more "Oh that's such a cute notebook, I'll use that for....".  (I swear Barnes & Nobel and Michael's, I'm gonna win this fight).
  • Print ONLY what pertains to you.
  • Checklists that are already filled out, you just have do the tasks and check them off.
  • Save it to your computer for future prints.
  • You get to be CREATIVE, make a cute binder to store your hard copies.
So onward to the nitty-gritty of this post.  +Ruth Soukup from Living Well and Spending Less is an amazing women by my standards.  I find her blog to be very informative and stock full of goodies.

Part 1: ORGANIZING LISTS...NEED I SAY MORE?

Okay, so on Tuesday morning when my daughter and I arrived at her daycare, I made a sudden realization that I forgot her shoes. Yes, her shoes.  And there was no going back home THIS time to get them, she was going barefoot.  This is the second time I've done that in the past couple months.

I think I need a list just for leaving the house in the morning, there is just too much to remember.

I'm always writing things down, but I can't seem to stick to a system.  I have an obsession with lists that deal especially with organizing. That's the point of a list right? There is just something that's so pleasing about jotting things down on paper that is pretty!

I have a dream of one day being like Jess from Forever Organised, this gal is super organized. Her site has got some of the cutest printables for keeping you on top of it.

Here is a rundown of all her printable lists:
  • Weekly Goals List
  • Weekly To Do List
  • The Big List
  • The Six List
  • Medication Tracker List (perfect if you have sick child, monitor their med dosage)

She also has posts on:
  • How to Organize
  • How to Organize Your To Do Lists
I hope you enjoy her blog as much as I do.  She's a great resource for regaining order in your life!

CREATING A TOY LIBRARY

Have you ever thought of creating a Toy Library?  No?  Well, neither have I. If your living room looks like a tornado of toys hit, like mine, you should consider creating the Toy Library.

What a novel idea, I have tried and tried to get my daughter to do the "For every one, two or three toys you take out of your room, you have to put some back", that absolutely does not work. That means I would constantly have to monitor her and remind her because she's 4, the concept doesn't stick.  It's useless.

But my daughter does love the library.  And because she's 4, this trick just might work.  It's a structured system, and at this age that's very important. Especially because I'm tired of being a slave to picking up toys. Are you?

This is a project that I will be doing, I do have a entry closet identical to this. Even if you don't have a closet available, you could set up a "Toy Library" system in their room, be creative with it.  It's more about the idea of having a library, something that will engage them, hopefully creating a pattern for keeping your living room from being over taken by toys.

Please check out my favorite couple:

Have a wonderful weekend!

EASY GIFT WRAP ORGANZER

Oh wrapping paper how I loathe you.  Isn't storing wrapping paper a pain in the rear?  I keep mine in one of those long bins stored in our garage. Every time my husband cleans the garage he ends up putting it up on the highest shelf. Then I gotta drag out the ladder and lug it down. No bueno.

So while I don't have a closet door available to implement this, I do have wall space inside a closet that would be just perfect!  Doesn't it look pretty, and organized and just darn genius? I think so!

Check out all the details here:

That's a wrap!

TIPS FOR COMPLETING YOUR UNFINISHED PROJECTS

If you're like me you probably have a half a dozen or more projects that are laying around waiting for you to finish.  I refer to it as the: Unfinished Projects Syndrome.

For example, my master bathroom, I started earlier this year removing not one, but two layers of wall paper that has been painted numerous times and I'm still not done.  It's one those projects that involve a lot time and I'll admit it, it's not exactly what I want to be doing on my weekends off.

Any others of you that suffer from this unfortunate syndrome?  Do you need closure? Well I found some helpful tips to help you with tackling all those unfinished projects:

Simple Mom - Finishing What We Start

So get motivated and busy, finish those projects!
